Parisian Love is a timeless Google campaign that proves even a simple search can tell a heartfelt story, capturing hearts 15 years on with over 8.5 million YouTube views
This month’s What An Ad pick is a vintage campaign that still resonates today. As part of Google’s Search Stories series, “Parisian Love,” uses an everyday action to tell the world’s most universal story…love.
Released in 2010, “Parisian Love” uses Google’s iconic search engine to tell the story of how a romance blossoms with one key search, “study abroad paris.” From there the Google search and results tell the story.
Highlighting how one curious action led to a chance encounter in a French coffee shop, an awkward flirtatious exchange lost in translation, some long distance longing and eventually a union of souls, this ad beautifully showcases our humanity and how one small search can set our lives into motion.
“Parisian Love,”a simple love story, now has 8.5 million views to date on YouTube and despite being 15 years old is still receiving comments years later like “14 years later - still makes me cry.” That is the power of simple, heartfelt and human storytelling. Despite it being a low budget production, it went on to air during the Super Bowl, back in 2010.
Today an ad like this would likely be illustrated on something like ChatGPT but our search remains the same..for connection.
