What is DAB?
DAB stands for Digital Audio Broadcasting, a technology used to transmit radio signals digitally rather than through traditional analogue methods such as AM or FM. It offers several advantages, including improved sound quality, greater resistance to interference, and the ability to broadcast multiple stations on the same frequency.
DAB radios can also display additional information such as station names, programme details, and song titles. DAB+ is simply just an upgraded version of DAB.
Onic to launch a new suite of DAB+ Stations
Onic are partnering with FailteDAB for the next step in the evolution of radio in Ireland, adding reach for broadcasters and choice for listeners to the already provided by FM broadcasting. It provides a much greater number and better selection of radio stations available to the consumer.
Plus the quality is better. It is delivered free to listeners by means of transmitted signals in a similar way to the analogue FM service. The one year trial will be focused on the Leinster area.
Onic will launch eleven stations, providing an array of entertainment from Hits to Movies and RnB to 80s. It opens up a wider choice for our listeners but also amazing opportunities across commercial spots and sponsorship for agencies and clients.
