Season One of If Taps Could Talk podcast launched on Thursday 3rd April 2025 offering listeners a compelling behind-the-scenes glimpse on what makes Irish pubs so iconic, featuring exclusive interviews with some of Ireland’s most groundbreaking, interesting and genuine characters. 

This isn’t a historical podcast – it’s a playful, engaging conversation designed to captivate an open-minded audience at home and abroad. From pub owners recounting unforgettable nights to delving into Ireland’s forgotten past, If Taps Could Talk blends nostalgia with contemporary craic to connect with listeners that love culture, social history and revealing conversations.

 

The first season of If Taps Could Talk features six episodes - the first episode launched on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube. The series kicked off with an exclusive interview with Dan Lambert, manager of Irish-language rap band Kneecap and Chief Operating Officer at Bohemian's Football Club. 

 

They talk in detail about the Bohemians Football Club, based in North Dublin. Dan has established the ‘Bohs’ club as a global brand as well as one of Ireland’s oldest and most cherished football clubs. Meanwhile, Dan oversaw Kneecap enjoying the biggest year of their career to date - thrilling audiences at music festivals like Electric Picnic and Glastonbury, alongside releasing their award-winning film that scandalised the British government, winning big prizes at the IFTA and BAFTA awards. 

Across the whole series, Crossy has curated some incredible guests to kick off Season One, including:

 

  • Dr Easkey Britton, the Irish National Surfing Champion & a pioneer in women’s big wave surfing.
  • Donal Fallon, historian and broadcaster best known for the Three Castles Burning podcast. 
  • Karla Chubb, frontwoman and guitarist of the acclaimed Dublin band Sprints.
  • Calvin James Sweeney, DJ and activist that has volunteered in numerous conflict zones 
  • Chris Kent, former electrician turned comedian, who regularly sells-out venues across Ireland.

In each episode, Crossy and his special guest peel back the layers of Irish culture to uncover the hidden culture of pub life – capturing the essence of legendary locations like Grogans, Cumiskeys and Lord Edward in Dublin; hidden gems like Shoot the Crows in Sligo Town; and famous Cork drinking institutions like Sin-é and The Oval.
